Control4 Takes on Alzheimer's Project

Many home automation projects are about making things easier and more convenient for the client. For Watchfulcare, a Control4© dealer in Ottawa, Ontario, one project was a matter of life and death. Their clients, Ross and Anita Staples, live with the daily challenges and hazards of Alzheimer's disease and were looking for a home automation solution in their penthouse to meet these challenges. Tom Dewar of Watchfulcare was able to create a solution that would give the Staples the same state-of-the-art home automation with a few enhancements that literally watch over them. Automated Alarms Because Anita cannot sleep in the same room as Ross and is in constant danger of wandering, Dewar needed to create a system that recognized when she awoke and alerted Ross.
