Technology Breathes New Life into Old Homes Blog
This post comes to us from Lisa Montgomery, Senior Editor at Electronic House and freelance home technology writer. Just like a new coat of paint or updated countertops, electronic systems should be part of a remodeling plan. Back in the early days of home automation, most systems were designed to be installed while a home was under construction. It was a wise strategy. The new housing market at that time was strong and healthy, so there were plenty of new homes to wire up for automation, security, lighting and whole-house A/V systems. Fast forward to 2014. It’s a remodelers’ market, now, as homeowners are choosing to update their current homes rather than building new.
Guest Post: How Control4 Has Changed My Life Blog
Today's blog post is from Control4's Beta Program Manager, Matt Sand, on how home automation has truly changed his life: Have you ever worried that you forgot to lock the doors at night? Have you ever wondered, "what if someone breaks in and takes my kids during the night?" What would you do if a water leakage occurred while on vacation? Have you ever just wanted to turn on your thermostat without getting out of bed? In 2006, the ability to do all of this and more came true for my family and I when I installed Control4. Did I Close the Front Door? Blog
Here is a great story from one of our employees at Control4. His name is David Phillips and he is one of our Area Sales Managers in the United Kingdom: "I have a Nyce ZigBee Contact sensor on my front door, which I’ve programmed to send me an email whenever my front door is opened. This way, if I am out and the door opens unexpectedly, I can call a neighbour or family member to check it out for me. That’s cool by itself, but I found a better use for it. I popped out to the local shops to pick up some essentials in my car – it’s only a few minutes away.
