Control4 Sets Small Businesses Up for a Win

Control4 demonstrates how high-tech automation solutions are helping business owners take their commercial ventures to the next level with streamlined operations

Salt Lake City, UT – May 14, 2012 – Control4, a leading innovator in residential and light commercial automation systems, expands the scope of control as they equip entrepreneurs with intelligent automation systems uniquely tailored to help their businesses operate more efficiently.

Through diverse commercial installations – including a target practice-oriented golf facility, bowling alley and gaming center – Control4 has proven that its automation technology isn’t just for the home but also provides an elite level of power, organization and flexibility to commercial establishments looking to “wow” patrons with advanced technology. Additionally, investing in the Control4 automation system has enabled business owners to simplify operations while focusing their efforts on providing an enhanced and consistent customer experience.

Golf Reinvented

Located in Allen, Texas, Diem Digital Interiors helped this TopGolf facility blend tee time and technology into what many are calling a highly addictive experience. Described as “golf entertainment,” this casual, three full-service bar-equipped facility is now entirely controlled by Control4. Originally intended to focus on video distribution – having everything from marketing to drink specials integrated into the venue’s many screens – the final project has resulted into something even more impressive.

Diem Digital Interiors has outfitted every hitting bay with two televisions; one which displays players’ scores and the other which functions as a regular TV featuring highly anticipated local and national sporting events. A video wall in the manager’s room controls the complex, including the six Control4 screens that are managed by a single iPad. From the iPad, the staff can govern the TopGolf atmosphere by remotely switching which DIRECTV channel is playing on each of the 240 televisions, either individually or all at once. Helping to further increase productivity and consistency, Diem Digital Interiors trained the TopGolf staff on how to run the entire facility in less than 30 minutes – taking away the complicated steps of A/V and allowing the system to accomplish everything the staff needs it to, with just the touch of a button. The Control4 automation platform has even given TopGolf the power to impress corporate clients and leading Fortune 500 companies, like AT&T, by demonstrating that the facility’s A/V solutions are as technologically-advanced as the state-of-the-art gaming system.

Bowling Alley of the Future

In years past, bowling alleys received a bad rap – thanks in part to hazy smoke, tacky décor and cheap fried food. But Perfect Games in Ames, Iowa, has changed that perspective by implementing a modern-day, state-of-the-art entertainment experience. Featuring 24 bowling lanes, a laser tag facility, arcade games, party rooms and a restaurant/bar/pizza parlor, Perfect Games found the perfect way to seamlessly control their 32,000 square foot facility to provide a relaxed, consistent customer experience for each patron who steps through the door.

Using a Control4® system, integrators from Digital Residence set up a solution that enables staff to control the 12 projectors and projection screens that are evenly set up between the league and family lanes. Staff members can trigger streaming video to any or all of the screens, complimenting game play – and when bowlers aren’t filling up the lanes, Perfect Games can entertain patrons on any of the six Toshiba 37” LCDs over the bar. Additionally, a 42” LCD and four JBL Pro Control 28T speakers provide the perfect audio set-up in Kingpin Pizza, the venue’s stone oven pizza and pasta restaurant. In true Control4 style, the system enables Perfect Games to manage each entertainment aspect from anywhere within the facility; providing the ultimate attention to detail.

Gamers Score

After Allied Home Technologies installed a Control4 system to manage his home theater, Bradley Metrock, owner of The Score, saw additional possibilities for his new business. Based in Franklin, Tennessee, The Score offers a high-tech, high-energy environment for video game enthusiasts to participate in leagues, tournaments or host private gaming events. Looking to effectively manage all aspects of the venue, Metrock asked Allied to install a Control4 system that would manage multiple displays and gaming consoles through a single interface – and that’s exactly what they did.

Before the Control4 system was installed, it would have taken a full time A/V technician to monitor, manage and run the entire network of devices housed within The Score. Now, it can be done with the touch of a single button. Aside from the dozens of consoles, the venue’s center room, The Arena, is complimented with surround sound and 100-inch display screens installed back-to-back, making it easier for gamers and visitors to see the action projected by two Panasonic projectors. Additionally throughout The Score, visitors can check out the latest games on multiple “Score Stations,” which include Samsung flat panel TVs connected to the Control4 system, allowing store employees to switch gamers between eight consoles (e.g., Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, or PS3), all which are managed seamlessly through a Control4 7” Touch Screen. The innovation spans to the location’s ability to automatically open and close as well. The entire system is programmed to turn on 10 minutes before opening and 10 minutes after scheduled closing, with options to disable for private parties and after-hour events. Overall, the Control4 system has been able to maximize The Score’s operational efficiency and accommodate the needs of a growing business.

Control4® technology is all about making life easier. With the help of customized automation systems, businesses are not only operating more resourcefully but also providing patrons with a high-tech experience they won’t soon forget. With Control4 solutions, productivity and affordability go hand-in-hand. You don’t have to break the bank to get your business started on the commercial automation track – you can add to your system as time goes on, allowing your control functionality to grow right alongside your business.
