Software Platform Makes Utility HAN Programs Even Easier to Administer
AUSTIN, TEXAS — September 13, 2010 – Control4, a leader in affordable IP-based home control systems, today announced new functionality for the Control4® Energy Management System 100 (EMS 100). The Control4® ADVANTAGE Management Console enables remote over-the-air upgrades of HAN devices, automated load control, and targeted messaging, including price signals and demand response event messages. The updated platform will be demonstrated at Autovation booth 331, today through September 15th, 2010 and will be available in early 2011.
Control4 ADVANTAGE, the brains behind the Control4® Energy Management System 100 (EMS 100), makes it easier for utilities to provision and administer Home Area Network devices, automates and optimizes load control and allows for targeted messaging. With the Management Console, utilities can take advantage of the interactive web-based dashboard to send demand response triggers, price signals, and other targeted messages, by device, zip code or usage profile. The Management Console also sends firmware upgrades over broadband, lessening the burden on the utility’s AMI network.

The ADVANTAGE Management Console facilitates HAN program administration by monitoring individual device status, sending price signals to individual HAN devices, and creating demand response and load control events. By using the ADVANTAGE Management Console, utilities can exercise the functionality of the EMS-100 without being coupled to AMI network deployment or enterprise application integration.
The platform is designed for a range of users, from IT administrators to customer service representatives, for easier administration and data access, providing an efficient alternative to writing applications for a web services interface.
