Control4 Hires Seasoned Executive Richard Walker to Lead Energy Systems Division

Former Hewlett-Packard GM Brings Consumer Electronics Expertise to the Energy Sector

Santa Clara, CA – Jan. 19, 2010 – Control4®, a leader in affordable IP-based home control systems, announced today the appointment of Richard Walker to the post of President, Energy Systems. Walker is responsible for the growth and management of the company’s new operating division dedicated to bringing affordable energy management solutions to consumers, utilities, partners, and businesses.

Walker joins the company from Hewlett-Packard, where he led the company’s $6 billion consumer desktop business unit. During his tenure at Hewlett-Packard, Walker was responsible for 15% growth and he secured and maintained the company’s worldwide leadership position in the desktop market for the last four years.

“The roll out of the smart grid represents a huge opportunity for Control4 and we needed a seasoned operations leader to drive this strategically important part of our business,” said Will West, CEO of Control4. “That’s what we’ve found in Richard. He brings a wealth of operations experience to Control4, having successfully driven growth in consumer electronics solutions for the broad market.”

Control4 Energy Systems was formed in July 2009 and debuted its first product, the Control4 Energy Management System 100 (EMS 100), in September. Since then, the Control4 EMS 100 has rapidly drawn industry attention as one of the easiest to use, most compelling energy management systems in the emerging home area network space and leading utilities have responded enthusiastically.

“To fully deliver on the promise of the smart grid, we need to make the user experience compelling and engaging for consumers,” said Richard Walker, President, Control4 Energy Systems. “Control4 is uniquely positioned to do just that, and I am eager to put my experience to work for the company.”

Prior to Hewlett-Packard, Walker was with Pumatech, now a part of Nokia, where he served as the vice president marketing and general manager online services and was responsible for establishing the company’s online services business unit.
