Control4 Announces 4Sight Internet Service Package Enabling Remote Access
4Sight Makes Monitoring and Controlling Home Automation Systems Easier Than Ever for Dealers and Consumers
Salt Lake City, Utah – September 9, 2005 – Control4, the leader in IP-based home control and entertainment systems, today announced its 4Sight internet services package. The services available through the myControl4.com website enable remote access capabilities for dealers, providing a way to program, maintain and upgrade customers’ Control4 installations. It also allows dealers and homeowners to receive email notifications about events occurring in the home, which they can monitor from work, vacations or any time they are away.
“Our announcement today marks a key breakthrough in the home automation industry,” said Will West, Chief Executive Officer, Control4. “With the 4Sight service through myControl4.com, we are offering dealers and consumers a revolutionary new level of control for the home. Dealers can now provide customer service substantially easier from a central location, and consumers will finally have an affordable way to monitor and control their homes remotely.”
This is an important milestone in Control4’s commitment to provide affordable home automation solutions for dealers and consumers alike. By giving dealers the ability to change and customize installations without the time and expense of sending a technician to the customer’s home, 4Sight can help dealers provide rapid-response service and support for their customers at a much lower cost. Homeowners will also benefit from the service, not just from increased support from the installer, but also with the ability to monitor their homes remotely on a PC or through email notification.”
Home owners have complete control over who can access their systems, creating a secure encrypted approach that requires no configuration of the home’s router or firewall. By decreasing or eliminating the need for truck rolls, dealers can respond to service requests within minutes or hours, rather than days or weeks. Using the email notification service, home owners can also add another level of security to their home, with instant notification of flooding or other home threats. Emails can also be sent to notify a home owner when the door opens after school, or when the television is turned on or off, helping parents monitor their children’s activity.
Control4, which began shipping products in April of this year, is the first to deliver 802.15.4 (ZigBee) wireless products that can be retrofitted into any home to provide reliable, cost-effective home control. The company is showcasing its award-winning home automation products and services at Booth #2029 at the CEDIA Expo.
