DIST Elevates the Ambiance of New Miami Restaurant with Full Course of Control4 Solutions

Since 2017, DIST (powered by Support305), has delivered comprehensive managed IT services to high-profile hospitality, healthcare, and corporate clients across South Florida.  

DIST, already well-versed in the needs and expectations of its core commercial clientele, strategically tailored its ADI offerings for this segment. "Intuitive control over lighting, AV equipment, and access control systems, combined with remote management, is a natural complement to our 24/7 IT support," explained Nitesh Mistry, owner of DIST. "For restaurants, the right music volume and lighting intensity can significantly enhance customer experience. Once we aligned on the install, the training and tech support from ADI really helped us hit the ground running.”

Originally from New Jersey and celebrated for its innovative cuisine and sleek, modern ambiance, the restaurant Toku Modern Asian had established a loyal following. The owners were now eager to make a bold impression with their new Vegas-inspired South Florida location. In this competitive market, they sought an edge — elegantly appointed and seamlessly controlled AV solutions. DIST was entrusted to oversee the project, and used ADI products from Triad, Control4, and more to ensure its success.

The newly built 15,000-square-foot establishment required an extensive number of speakers to provide seamless background music coverage. During the design phase, DIST carefully placed Episode speakers to ensure smooth and balanced sound throughout the space, complementing them with Triad subwoofers in select areas. The design of each space guided the installation approach, with speakers and subwoofers either surface-mounted or recessed flush with the ceiling as needed.

Equally vital to the overall audio experience was volume control. “The restaurant owners wanted the music to subtly enhance the dining atmosphere — not overpower it like in a club where conversations become a shouting match,” Mistry reflected.  

To achieve this delicate balance, a Control4 system was implemented to maintain a pleasant volume level while offering staff some flexibility. The audio system is divided into six distinct zones through a Triad audio matrix, allowing managers to easily control sound from three strategically placed Control4 touch panels. With just a tap, staff can mute music for business lunches or direct audio from televised sporting events to specific sections of the restaurant. A single button press restores the original audio settings, simplifying sound management and streamlining opening and closing procedures. Video distribution and control follow a similar setup, enabling staff to quickly select and stream content to the speakers in each zone.

Enhancing the ambiance, the restaurant’s lighting is seamlessly managed by the Control4 system. With input from the owners, DIST configured the brightness levels of Control4 light switches and audio volume settings into customized scenes tailored for lunchtime and dinnertime dining. These scenes are scheduled to activate automatically, eliminating guesswork and simplifying setup for the staff. There's no concern about technical disruptions, even in the event of a power outage.  

The entire Control4 ecosystem is monitored and managed through ADI’s cloud-based OvrC support platform. If any device requires a reboot or maintenance, the DIST team is immediately alerted and can resolve the issue remotely, ensuring smooth operations and an uninterrupted dining experience.
