Configure an IO Extender
The IO Extender opens up a whole world of options in the Control4 system to control home theaters, distributed audio systems, video devices, motion sensors, and other devices that use infrared (IR), serial, contact, and relay connections. This device is a great companion to the EA controllers to expand output capability.
Ensure that the IO Extender is installed and set up as directed in the IO Extender Installation Guide available on the Dealer Portal.
To add and configure an IO Extender:
- Follow the steps in “How to add devices to a project” to add and identify the device. Ensure that the IO Extender driver is added to the project tree.
- Add device drivers, for devices to be controlled by IR or serial, or Motorization drivers, for devices connected by relay or contact sensor (see “Configuring Motorization” in this document) and make the appropriate connections between those drivers and the IO extender on the Connections > Control/AV window (see “Connect and verify devices” in this document).
