Configuring high-resolution audio with an EA Controller
Options for configuring high-resolution audio quality in a project running OS 2.9.0 or later can be found on the Properties page of the Digital Media driver. Click on Digital Media in the Project Tree.
Advanced Audio—Provides superior audio quality, lowered audio latencies, and support for future features. This field shows if Advanced Audio is enabled in the project.
Note: For Advanced Audio to be enabled, no audio inputs or outputs from HC-200, HC-300, HC-500 Controllers or Speaker Points can be bound in the project
Audio Latency—This parameter adjusts the delay when playing audio. For a project where all networked audio devices are wired and no EA HDMI connections are used, a latency below 1500 ms can be used. For projects where networked audio devices are wireless and include EA HDMI connections, a minimum latency setting of 1500 is recommended. Further adjustments may need to be made depending on the networking environment.
Max Quality—This setting specifies the best audio output in systems that support high-resolution audio beyond CD (44.1 kHz / 16 bit). Large values will consume more network bandwidth, but will ensure high-quality source media fidelity is preserved. The Max Quality feature requires the use of Advanced Audio and EA controllers. Older controllers added to a zone with high-quality audio will receive CD quality audio.
Active Quality—Indicates the current audio quality setting of the project. Active Quality can be different from the Max Quality setting depending on the number of bound audio outputs in a project.
Note: Active Quality is limited to 96 kHz/24 bit when MQA audio is enabled. See "Configuring MQA audio".
Maximum number of bound audio outputs/simultaneous audio streams per project
- 192 kHz / 24-bit audio is limited to two bound audio outputs
- 96 kHz / 24-bit audio is limited to four bound audio outputs
- 48 kHz / 24-bit audio is not limited, but it is recommended to have no more than 12 simultaneous digital media streams at this quality.
