Project Spotlight: St. Patrick's Gym
St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Fayetteville, North Carolina, wanted its new gymnasium to be easy for staff to manage. With the assistance of Quality Sound & Video, a local Control4 dealer, St. Patrick’s $2.78 million gym offers students and patrons a state-of-the-art facility for learning and playing.
Custom Lighting
Through Control4, school staff can manage everything from the lights to the basketball hoops. The high voltage lights use standard Control4 lighting switches to switch high current relays, controlling the 277V fluorescent circuits. The addition of Control4 dimmers mean light levels can be adjusted based on the event. The lighting is controlled with two, six-button keypads, one located at the opposite entrances to the gym.
Ready for Game Time
To manage the six basketball goals, Quality Sound & Video installed Control4 Extended Relay unit controls. Up/down operation is handled using a six-button keypad located in the main gym area. Unauthorized goal movement is controlled by a two-button keypad in the staff office. A single button locks the system. Staff can also open and close the gym’s dividing curtain and projection screen using the installed keypads.
Sounding Off
Designed by Mark Lynch and installed by Jack Cassity, both CEDIA certified, this Control4 system also manages the gym’s AV system, including the sound system and the projector. Now students have a place to go for large group presentations. Using something as a simple as a keypad, Control4 has given St. Patrick’s the flexibility to use its gym for multiple needs without requiring extensive training.Resources
