Project Spotlight: Spike's Sports Bar & Grill
Winters can get cold in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. One of the best ways to pass the time is in Spike’s Sports Bar and Grill. Great entertainment can make or break a sports bar, so Spike’s wanted to do it right. With the help of Control4 dealer Guske Electric, Spike’s delivers unparalleled viewing access to everyone’s favorite sporting events.
Larry Johnson, Guske’s owner, integrated multiple systems to make managing Spike’s entertainment options straightforward using the Control4 HC-300. For example, over the main bar, Control4 manages a 60-inch flat panel that’s flanked by two 50-inch flat panels set up with the Video Wall Agent. Throughout Spike’s, guests have their choice of two more 50-inch flat panels, one 42-inch flat panel, and nine 37-inch flat panels. All told, Control4 streamlines management of 15 high-definition TVs. Each TV was set up with a separate satellite receiver. An installed VCR and DVD player offer additional viewing options. A Sony Video Switch simplifies changing between video sources.
In addition to controlling video, Guske also included a karaoke input that could be streamed to one or all eight audio zones. Multiple zones gives Spike’s the option to deliver targeted audio, allowing for karaoke in one part of the bar while letting other areas continue watching their sporting events. Spike’s also requested two video cameras. Through Control4, Spike’s staff can keep an eye on things to ensure the best guest experience and protect their property.
The Control4 system and all its integrated devices are managed with a 10.5-inch touchscreen and a Control4 remote. Both management and bartenders alike can’t say enough about how versatile and easy the system is to operate.
