Danny Briere, a technology industry analyst, lived his profession. His 1700s-era farmhouse in rural Connecticut was full of one-off technology products.
Ideal Retrofit Solution
Control4’s platform for the digital home made life easier for the Brieres by distributing audio and video through the home’s network. The Brieres were a little worried that their almost-300-year-old home would require major remodeling and construction to pull the appropriate wires for a home-control and distributed audio/video solution. Not so. Control4 leveraged standard wireless and wired technology already in the home to install the system –without knocking down walls. By working from a central platform and a single remote, Control4 made it easy for the Brieres to enjoy their favorite technology.
One Platform, Multiple Solutions
Beyond managing his favorite media and technology, Control4 also gave Danny the option to automate his lighting and temperature controls to help manage the energy use in his home. Even the youngest twins are now able to control events like closing a room’s shades, turning on the TV and turning off the lights in the entire house when they leave – from one button. Danny can now set a “goodnight” scene, adjusting the temperature, turning off all the lights, and arming the security system by simply pushing a keypad button on his bedside table. The entire family watches movies in comfort at the press of a button by closing the shades, dropping the projection screen, and dimming the lights while starting the movie. One of the unique features that the Brieres implemented allows them to see who’s pulled into the driveway via an IP camera. A live video feed appears on the TV and touch screens throughout the home when guests arrive. Danny and his family are now experimenting with programming their own custom scenarios, making their visions of other ways that Control4 can help make their lives easier become reality.
