Lights. Action. Smooth-sailing control.

Control4© products are often used to integrate technologies in unusual settings. But for Audio Video Design (AVD) in Massachusetts, the Control4 platform made it possible to gracefully install a state-of-the-art entertainment solution in a room that took on a whole different scene.

Media Scenes

The owners of this Newton, Mass., home wanted a home theater in a basement room designed to resemble an antiquated cruise cabin. This theme included the elaborate trim work on the posts and frame panels, as well as the gold-trimmed port hole on the theater door. AVD used the sleek Control4© SR-250 remote to control the lights, projector, games, and blu-ray player, configuring the system with five pre-determined media scenes.

The Movie scene, for instance, activates the projector, turns on the theater lights at full brightness, and gives theater participants 45 seconds to find their seats. Blu-ray is then selected as the video source and the lights dim for viewing, completing the cinema atmosphere. Other scenes include Television and Gaming, each with their own lighting, video and audio settings.

Lighting Control

According to AVD, it is the lighting that really makes this home theater exceptional, delivering a stunning entertainment experience in a distinct space.

"The unique part of this room is that the homeowner also has full access to all the lighting and equipment via the Control4 remote," says Beth Desjardins of AVD. "The Control4 SR-250 allows them to control their system through its small LCD screen list navigator, or they can use the remote to navigate the intuitive Control4 menu on the TV screen. Either way, lights can be dimmed by small percentages at a time."

With AVD's expertise and Control4 home integration products, this installation was smooth sailing, maintaining this home theater's unique décor while delivering cinema-quality entertainment.
