Control4 and Energy

We’re creating a new standard for home energy management, driving unprecedented engagement and participation in the new generation of smart grid-enabled programs.

We empower consumers and utilities with Control4® ADVANTAGE, valuable usage information to help manage energy load and costs.

We built an open platform based on industry standards to enable easy integration, upgrades, new feature releases, and application development.

We add industry-leading intelligent automation to home energy management for maximum savings. Our home automation platform is interoperable with more than 6,500 consumer electronics devices in the home, and we use this same collaborative approach to build comprehensive interoperability into our energy platform.

We’re a proven provider to consumers and industry alike. We’ve shipped over one million ZigBee units, installed more than 115,000 HAN controllers, and currently support commercial and utility customers in the management of thousands of systems.

We offer an established network of more than 1,500 professional dealers and national retailers for installation and support.

Bringing the smart grid online is a major undertaking involving every part of the energy ecosystem, from utilities and distribution systems to the consumer electronics and appliances in our homes. If the consumer gets involved, the industry wins. That’s why we helped to create The Smart Grid Consumer Collaborative, an independent non-profit organization. We’re proud to be doing our part to facilitate dramatic change in the way people manage their electricity consumption. Our ultimate goal is get consumers to say an enthusiastic "yes" to the smart grid. Join us in the effort.

Did you know…?

Utilities can customize the feature set available on the Control4 EMS 100 to offer energy savings incentives and other programs for customers. Or integrate additional control capabilities for other devices in the home, including PHEV’s.

Did you also know…?

Studies show that when consumers have more detail on their energy use, they find ways to reduce consumption by 5 to 10 percent. When utilities have variable, or time-of-use, pricing, consumers could cut electricity use by 15 percent at on-peak times, typically in the morning and early evening. Add automatic device control and savings can jump to 25 – 30%.
