Denver, CO - September 4, 2008 — Control4, the leader in affordable IP-based home control and entertainment systems, today announced the release of two new products compatible with iPhone, iPod, and iPod Touch devices from Apple. The first is an application developed in partnership with Control UI that enables iPhone or iPod Touch users to fully access Control4’s home automation system. The second product is the Control4® Dock for iPod, which enables music and videos on the iPod to be integrated into the Control4® system. Control4 iPhone and iPod Touch Software Application By downloading an application developed by Control UI to the iPhone or iPod Touch and adding software to the Control4 system, users now have the option to access the system from an iPhone or an iPod Touch. The hand-held interface is the same as on the Control4 family of touch panels and on-screen interfaces, making navigation simple and familiar. Users will have complete access to any aspect of the system including security, lighting, temperature control, multi-room music, and home theater control and more. “Control4 will continue to partner with companies like ControlUI to deliver solutions like the new iPhone and iPod software application,” said Will West, Chief Executive Officer of Control4. “As the platform for the digital home, we are committed to providing affordable and easy-to-use solutions for existing devices to offer flexibility and choice for the growing broad market of automation customers.” The application, called My House UI for Control4, was developed by Control UI, an authorized Control4 development partner. “People depend on their mobile devices for communication and entertainment, and we are very pleased to enable those same devices to now control the home,” said Chuck Hudson, co-founder of Control UI. “I have been developing software for over 20 years, and the Control4 platform is one of the best I have ever worked with.” Control4 Dock for iPod Accessing iPod content through the Control4 network is now easier and more affordable than ever with the Control4 Dock for iPod. Simply plug in an iPod or iPod Touch and all of the music loaded on the iPod can be accessed throughout the home. The iPod’s songs and playlists will appear on all of the Control4 displays. Even video stored on the iPod can be accessed locally and controlled with the Control4 system. “Our goal at Control4 is to get the different devices and systems in the home to work together better,” said Mr. West. “By providing tight integration for the iPod in the Control4 system, we make it easier for users to enjoy personalized content, and we continue to expand our offerings as the platform for the digital home.” Shipping in November 2008, the Control4 Dock for iPod will retail for $299. |
