Salt Lake City, Utah – April 1, 2008 – Control4 today announced that Will West, founder and CEO of Control4, has been named the Utah CEO of the Year by the Utah Technology Council (UTC) at this year’s Annual Member’s Meeting held at Salt Lake Community College. Located in Salt Lake City, Control4 was founded by Will West, Eric Smith and Mark Morgan in 2003 and has grown rapidly to become the leader in affordable IP-based home control and entertainment systems. Today the company employs 205 people (180 of which are located in Utah, including 70 highly skilled hardware and software engineers). “UTC’s Board and members are pleased to recognize Will West’s legendary leadership and success in creating such an innovative technology company in Utah,” said Richard R. Nelson, President and CEO of the Utah Technology Council and of Technology Councils of North America (TECNA). “Will’s entrepreneurship has benefited Utah over the years, with Control4 being his fourth IT company. Under Mr. West’s leadership as CEO, Control4 has become the first company to make whole-home automation a practical option for any residence.” Control4's affordable and easy-to-use products enable home theater control, multi-room music, smart lighting, temperature control and security, through a range of in-home and over-the-web remote control technology. The company delivers both wired and wireless solutions that can be installed in existing homes as well as homes under construction. “I am honored to receive this recognition on behalf of Control4 and appreciate the vital role the UTC plays in connecting the IT leaders of Utah,” said Mr. West. “The UTC enables management growth and facilitates executive peer networking, along with representing the voice of the IT industry in the state and federal political process. Any credit for this award goes to the entire Control4 team, which is truly delivering the digital home to a much broader market than ever before.” Mr. West received the award on Friday, March 28, during a luncheon at this year’s UTC Annual Member’s Meeting, which featured keynote speaker Meg Whitman, President and CEO of eBay. |
