January 7, 2008 – Johnson Controls, Inc., the global, multi-industrial leader in creating smart environments, and Control4, the leader in affordable IP-based control and entertainment systems, will introduce a small-building control system called Touch4. The solution is designed to compliment Johnson Controls’ offerings in small office buildings or tenant spaces within a larger building to provide control of lighting, HVAC, security and media systems. The solution will be available in select markets beginning in January. The Touch4 building management system provides sophisticated and high-tech functionality for smaller buildings and tenant spaces within a larger building. The Touch4 system makes extensive use of wireless communications and state-of-the-art touch-screen user interface and provides streaming digital audio, room lighting, networked thermostatic temperature control, and monitoring/control of security points. “We are thrilled to partner with the world’s leader in optimizing building efficiency, comfort and security,” said Will West, CEO at Control4. “Just as we have built a platform for residential smart home automation through ease of use and affordability, we look forward to working with Johnson Controls to do the same for the small-building automation market.” The Johnson Controls’ Touch4 system provides a simple and straightforward user interface to a small building control system. Touch4 users do not require a background and understanding of heating, ventilating, and air condition (HVAC) systems to experience the full capabilities of a Touch4 system. Any system user with the proper credentials can walk up the system’s interface and easily control the various components of the building. The Touch4 system can be delivered and installed quickly, accurately, and easily to reduce the costs and complexity often associated with the installation of more complicated BAS systems. The solution will be previewed in January 2008 by Control4 at the International Consumer Electronics show (booth #21407). |
