HEALTH AND SAFETY COME FIRST, A MESSAGE FROM CONTROL4

By Jamie Corpuz | Posted April 8, 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused dramatic and sudden changes to the way we live and the way we conduct business, but we’re here to help you through these challenges. But most importantly, we want you to know that the health and safety of our customers, partners, and employees is our top concern.

FOR OUR CUSTOMERS AND OUR DEALERS

First-and-foremost, it is important that everyone follow the recommended public health guidelines and government orders issued in their areas. We, along with our dealers, may provide support, products, and services considered “essential” under applicable government orders in your area—including networking, security and surveillance, lighting and electrical, data and audiovisual distribution, telecommunications, power, and control systems. It is up to you and the professional that you work with (a.k.a system integrator/smart home pro) to define what work you are both comfortable with.

At this time, many professionals in our industry are prioritizing critical repairs and services for the essential technology systems listed above or are only working on projects in unoccupied homes or businesses, e.g. pre-wiring for future installs or working on construction sites. Thanks to professional-grade systems and expertise, many system reboots and repairs can be done remotely, but if an on-site visit cannot be avoided we strongly encourage that both the customer and the technician practice social distancing, extraordinary hygiene practices, and wear or carry appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as facemasks, hand sanitizers, disinfectants, shoe covers, etc. If either technician or customer has symptoms of illness or has been exposed to someone who is sick—please stay home.

WE’RE HERE TO HELP

The smart home professionals that we partner with to serve our customers have been taking extra measures to make sure you and their employees stay safe. You can read about the precautions they are taking here in this blog, Smart Home Pros Take Smart Precautions To Protect Customers During Covid-19. You can also read about what safety practices our industry is recommending in this article in CE Pro Magazine.

While we are all practicing social distancing and avoiding in-person contact, there are many ways we can continue to serve our customers, whether they are homeowners or businesses.

  • If you are working or schooling children from home, and need help with your network or power, your smart home professional may be able to help.
  • If you need to change a preference on your Control4 Smart Home OS 3, you may be able to make those changes yourself. Contact your smart home professional and ask them how. If you don’t already have access, ask them how you can use 4Sight and When >> Then to modify your preferences yourself.
  • Are you a business owner whose business is closed? If you’d like to upgrade or install surveillance or security so you can monitor your property from home, contact a Control4 dealer, they can help.
  • Are you considering an upgrade or new installation in the future? Our dealers can still take phone calls, emails, or possibly give virtual tours of their showrooms.
You can find a professional near you using our Dealer Locator or contact the dealer that you currently work with by finding their contact information in your customer.control4.com account.

OUR EMPLOYEES
We are temporarily limiting non-essential business travel and the majority of our teams are working remotely. Our IT teams have diligently prepared us to work-from-home, and that’s exactly what we’re doing where we can. Our customer and dealer satisfaction and technical support teams are all set up at home to serve you.

In departments where working from home is not possible, we are enforcing hygiene protocols, social distancing, and providing employees with appropriate personal safety equipment.  In addition, we require employees to stay home if they are feeling sick and have implemented emergency PTO for employees who have been impacted.

We are committed to maintaining the service and support you expect from us while ensuring the health and safety of our global employees.
